The only way to really describe Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer (more commonly referred to as just “Zolof”) as according to the band members themselves, is to make up a whole new genre: Spunk Rock.

Known for their simplistic bright lyrics and catchy rhythms, Zolof is a band that is just plain FUN to listen to. (Although, rather difficult to sing along to, as the band is fronted by a girl).

Zolof is currently on Eyeball records (Thursday, My Chemical Romance) and has collaborated with the band “Reel Big Fish”, and more notably, Anthony Green of Circa Survive. Zolof split an E.P. with Reel Big Fish containing duets between the bands, while Anthony Green was on their “Lollipop EP” giving back up and main vocals in many of the songs.

I would definitely recommend you view this video as just a taste of Zolof, and go check out their most recent album, “Schematics”. Their 4th LP, Schematics really shows that they have their sound nailed down, yet they’re still able to produce original songs that aren’t quite like what they’ve produced before. Absolutepunk.net quotes Schematics as that “The moog synthesizers and jump-up-and-down sing-a-longs are still mainstays in Zolof The Rock & Roll Destroyer’s new songs but also present is a maturity of songwriting that deepens their musical pool… even if that pool is filled with Kool-Aid.”

All in all, Zolof is a spunky indie/pop/rock band that is definitely worth your time, and a great listen when you’re feeling low.
